The Prado Museum was in 2009 the ninth most visited museum in the world with about 3 million visitors.  Located in Madrid, the museum is famous for its masterpieces from European artists of the 16th and 19th centuries.  Its principal attraction is the large presence of works by Velázquez, Goya, Titian and Rubens, of which the museum owns the best collections that exist on a global scale.  Added to that are works from El Greco, Murillo, Ribera, Zurbaran, Rafael, Veronese, Tintoretto,Van Dyck and El Bosco.

During the WYD, the Prado Museum will have many activities such as an itinerary on the image of Christ that includes paintings from its collection as well as a guest masterpiece from the Vatican Museums:  The Entombment of Christ by Caravaggio.
