Madrid is the second capital in the world with the most green areas and among its most emblematic parks is the Retiro. With lots of species of vegetation and animals, it is a place where one may walk and play sports such as skating and cycling. It is very typical to go boating upon the pond and contemplate the statue of the Spanish king Alfonso XII. The Retiro Park is place to connect with nature.
Located in the center of Madrid and created in the 17th century, its natural areas, palaces and ponds were destined for the enjoyment of kings. However, in the present day, it is one of the most beautiful areas of the world, and its palaces host important exhibitions.
Here there will be various activities during the WYD. Among them is the Festival of Forgiveness where more than 200 priests will be available for confession in different languages, and also the Vocations Fair, with more than 80 stands to get to know firsthand the different institutions and movements of the Church.
